  • Mission

    Parallax Community (PC) is an interdisciplinary group that re-renders content in artful ways to see new perspectives. We use arts-playing to shape our culture. By viewing the problem through various lenses and angles (what is termed parallaxic praxis); we can develop individual lines of sight which have deep personal meaning. When we put all those different lines together and value each of them, collectively we are able to develop a confluence, a mainstem to approach the problem much more holistically.

    PC’s “glocal” collaborative creative ethic encourages individual meaning-making, the sharing of ideas and resources, and the acceptance of multiple knowledges as the key to sustaining happiness, learning, progress, and local and global community.

    Our current question is how can we use the body, clothing, and accessories in the power struggle we face?

    • We can sustain ourselves in local spaces by working together, sharing resources with neighboring communities and sharing solutions online.

  • How this superstruct works

    • The model begins with the individual (a responsible key contributor)  as a circle, inside a family circle, inside an extended family circle, inside a geographic circle, inside the virtual earth circle. Also using an old Chinese war strategy model, the concentric circles are layered. Other circles are above and below, shifting in virtual space as needs are met locally and globally. Community neighbors are not necessarily geographically neighbors. Consider how small groups can get together to play with the arts as a means to resolve local issues.

      PC focuses on self-sustaining local spaces and nurturing creativity in children and community. Children are “schooled” through apprenticeship models led by all community members who offer various expertise. Life long learning is promoted so students and adults learn with other members of the community either in real life or in virtual labs.

      Static teaching curriculums are long gone. Community teaching and learning is about making the local space a better place, helping the PC local and global community through discussion forums, sharing learning, responding to peers, and posting creations. The posted solutions provoke new learning in others.  

      Making ART is one way to understand the problems and creatively find solutions. Show us some of your problem solving sessions!
