Starting a superstructure is only the beginning. The real task is envisioning what it can do, how it will work, and who you need to work with. If you're not a member, consider joining now. If you are a member, be bold, jump in, and use the superstructure to start organizing for survival. Edit it, add to the vision, and make it real, online and off. And don't forget to rave.

More about Superstructures

  • Community Access Educational Service Centers

You Can Teach, We Can Help
  • Founder: mudmama

  • Who We Need
Teachers, librarians, experienced homeschoolers, educators of all kinds with many different philosophies as well as administrators and people with experience with funding not-for-profit organizations.
  • How to join
Please consider volunteering to start a local regional superstruct using this as a collaborator
  • Mission
CAESC will provide libraries, workshops, and networking to help parents forced into a home education situation either due to ReDS, school closures due to fuel costs, or issues with mobility and a nomadic lifestyle.  We will operate a central website offering search engines, reproducible content, educational podcasts, and social networking.  As well, we will facillitate local regional groups that want to meet face to face.
  • What we can accomplish
    • Millions of families are facing the need to home educate their children and they feel it is an insurmountable job.  They need resources and targetted counselling to see that they CAN teach their children, and that their children can in many ways be ijn charge of their own education.  We can provide them with the same kind of workshops teachers take at professional development workshops.  We can help communities create extensive home education networks to facilitate neighbourhood home school associations and cooperatives.  We can provide information on and access to open source curricula and advice on low cost no cost supplies and materials.
  • How this superstruct works
    • Encourage people to think up creative ways to navigate through a world where education can not be provided through brick and mortar schools.  It doesn't have to be a frightening concept or one where children are set in front of a computer 6 hours a day.  It can be fun.

INPUT- web design, physical spaces in regions serviced, donations of materials, database added to by users and facilitators, volunteering time to facilitate locally and on site management, fundraising, coordination with departments of education, advertising and promotion. mentorship, support, people to develop FAQS or find them online and link to them

OUTPUT - coordination, community groups able to form, one stop access to curriculum and materials to support it, development of new mentors, empowerment, end isolation, educate children!

  • Other information
  • Discuss this superstructure
    • Is the "central website" mentioned above available? If not, when will it be and how can we link our efforts into it? ~~ csven
