      The food crisis of the world is undeniable. every day, those who can still afford electricity watch the new on their TV's, and every day, the same thing. CHINA, INDIA, SOUTH AMERICA, AFRICA, all these countries suffering a mass famine, and this famine is worsened by the ravages of ReDS.

        Air transport carrying vital cargo to help feed and treat victims of famine and disease cannot go anywhere, as the authorities has banned them from using manmade fuel, which is 300% cheaper than normal jet fuel.

      T his superstructure can help bring events like these into the public mindsets, and those who join can freely edit and change and design what this superstructure does.

    • IDEAS:

      this is my idea.

      If we can use remainding fossil fuel, ie. jet fuel, petrol, diesel, to provide the hungry and starving with food, then we can begin to hack away at getting more energy resources. you see, one of the major barriers is transport, without cheap fuel, transport is expensive and difficult. with cheap transport, humanitarian aid is easier to achieve.

       so if the govornment, and regulatory bodies can give fuel benefits to humanitarian aid operations (and by benefits i mean FREE fuel) then we will surely begin to see a reduction in famine, contributing to a reduction in disease, and then a reduction in quarantine... which will make a lot of people happy.

       Here is a flow chart showing how doing this one thing will help lots of people in turn:

      • Free fuel for humanitarian aid missions and
      • free access to all LEDC countries (especially far east + africa) will lead to:
      • reduced famine
      • reduced disease
      • increased national morale
      • increased multi-national confidence
      • increased govornmental confidence
      • possible decrease in anti-western policy
      • increased wealth for LEDC's due to less poverty

      of course there are more benefits, but i havnt time to list, possibly someone can join up and finish it!

       

      anyway, this on its own is just a short term fix to the problems. new cleaner cheaper energy manufacturing processed have to be developed, such as further research into nuclear power and solar power  (more info in my superthreat-story)

      This superstructure is a good idea, thanks for inviting me doctor. i really beleive that if we work as a team we can bring these two separate entities together and come up with ONE solution to solve them both!

       Hi it's Martin Brolin (Tsunamipants), I'm missing one energy source that has been around for years but somehow is still not very known, the use of living plants as an energy source. Roadsides and public parks have been turned into large plant microbial fuel cells and many people are powering their house with their lawn. About a decade ago researchers at Wageningen UR Applied Plant Research were able to tap power from living plants.       Hi, I am MJSL2050, a futurist (who worked on many topics, including agro-food) and am just thinking and taking up the previous comment from Martin: how much of, say a vegetable is actally eaten and how much is thrown away as inedible waste. Why can't we either use the vegetable and plant wastes more effiently as energy source  or even better engineer plants that yield both in one: a nutritious edible part  and a part that is optimised for energy use? At least in principle this should be possible. (at least you could use the inedible part as fuel to transport the edible one ;-) )
