     We need anyone with an idea. Just get it out there and it will grow.

  • How to join
    Anyone is welcome to join. The more ideas we can generate the better. What kind of manual work do you do throughout the day?
  • Mission
    WE need to rethink energy. In addition to alternative energy sources such as wind and solar, we should focus on producing as much as we can with our bodies. We should really try to find ways to use the manual work we do throughout the day and convert it into usable and storable energy for our homes. Most of us commute by bicycle everyday. This exercise requires a large amount of work. Our bikes could be modified so that the pedaling action charged a battery, which could be used in our homes. Even stationary bicycles within our homes could be used in this manner and this way everyone in the family could contribute. This is only an idea to expand upon. We need to come up with more ways to produce our own power.
  • What we can accomplish
      • We can help people to construct bicycle power generators that can recharge small applliances like phones and laptops.
      • by tutoring people in electronics we can help salvaged goods become useful power generators.
      • horizontal wind power units can be made from old squirrel cage fans
      • old electronics like washing machines and vacume cleaners can be used to turn mechanical energy into electrical energy
      • electrical energy can be easily converted to hydrogen gas
      • algae can create substrate to generate electricity with using sunlight
      • understanding how to generate and store power you can easily meet your needs with pizza-ink solar cells

      Seems to me that we are better off inventing ways of harnessing the energy all around us (so yes, solar, wind, photosynthetic, geothermal) than human power, since human power is limited by both our fitness and (more crucially) our food availablility.  In the commuting example given, my bike already has a dynamo that can be switched on and off to power my bike lights when needed, but doing too much more than that would make cycling considerably more draining on me!  Any batterys charged from cycling have taken their energy from my muscles - I'd far rather they take it from the natural processes all around! ~ DarkOptimism, 26 Oct 2019
