VVSD: Courts Rejects Wikileaks Appeal

Wikileaks ordered to turn documents over to the courts.

The courts have denied Wikileaks appeal to protect documents received related to the recent Malaysian Financial Hack.  The courts declared, because the source of those documents is known and currently in custody for a crime related to those documents, they could not be protected under current whistleblower laws.  Additionally it was declared that the documents property of the court and immediately required Wikileaks to turn them over to the authorities.

Some qre questioning what precedant this ruling will set for the future of Wikileaks, the popular whistleblower site which has recently moved its servers off-shore, making the servers out of jurisdiction of the courts.  This case however does not deal with the servers but on the actual documents.  Almost immediately after the ruling a number of indiviuals and groups have opened new suits against Wikileaks.  While few have the same legal grounds for suit as revealed in the ruling today, it is thought that the mounting court costs could cripple Wikileaks financially. 

The future of Wikileaks is currently being discuessed on Superstruct
