Fed up with being unfed

A quick walk through my own past
dracolytch

Chaos... People are so angry that they are now poisoning the food. What's that going to accomplish, really? Nothing.

Fine, there's only one way to beat chaos: Anarchy.

Some people think that anarchy means chaos... But there's more to it. Anarchy implies decentralization, that there can be personal order and direction in an environment without any order. The guy calmly walking through the mobscene is an anarchist. He's also the most likely to survive.

I've gone back to my garage, and I found some of the old Hydroponics equipment that I had stored there... I remember going to a hydroponic garden on my honeymoon at Mr. Mouse's theme park. On a lark, I went home and done a bit of research.

I guess what's old is new again. They key now is simplification.

I have my old setup... A window planter, some rocks, a piece of opaque plastic, a couple feet of plastic tubing, and a fish aquarium air pump... That's all I need for a base. A couple of flourescent grow-lights and I have a working hydroponic setup for less than $100. I wish I had better windows, so I didn't have to use the power.

The plant food I have is old, but I don't think it'll matter. Getting new will be tough though. I wonder: Is there something I could grow off of my septic system, to then compost and use as soil for a more traditional indoor grow system?

Turns out that this could be a pretty versitile indoor growing system... Just pull out the rocks and the aquarium pump, put in some dirt, and you're good to go.

Ok, so I can't grow everything I need to survive. That's not the point... I can't grow cheese anyway. Every bite I grow is one I don't have to buy. It's a start.

Who's up for an anarchist tomato?

regarding your septic system: to compost your shit, it's really much easier to avoid flushing it in the first place. instead, set up a humanure composting system. It's real simple, involves a few receptacles, straw/wood chippings, and a compost pile. look up "The Humanure Handbook" online to learn some mo'
