OutlawPlanet: How do we stop Drones?

The fact is, drones can easily be used to fuel the conflicts. And they violate pirvacy.. So how do we stop them?

Drones are being used to keep an eye out on our leadership and on...us. They are easy to aquire, so as to spy and to keep a watch on us. I can see why some people would like drones, they want to know what their leaders are thinking. But other people would want to use that information in order to manlipuate, backmail, and control these very leaders. Take for example this: An extreme group that supports a Nation would spy on the Leadership and reveal any compromises the leadership makes to an enemy nation. If the compromise was made, the enemy nation would make peace with the first nation, thereby lessening "Power Struggle". But if the secret compromise was revealed, public outcry over the compromise would force the Leadership to not make the necessary concession needed for peace, aiding the extreme nationalist group. Tensions would continue, and peace would not be allowed. Drones also violate the privacy of everyone. If it is easy to spy on our leadership, then it must be even more easier to spy on an random person, and learn everything on that person. Violations of privacy are wrong, and should be stopped. The question is: How? How do you stop Drones? I can see somebody creating an "Anti-Drone Army" Superstructure...but I'm not really sure that's going to work.

Yah what really annoys me is I have to board up my house, to keep out burglary drones. This is a nightmare - drones as small as a rat crawling in, remote controlled with 3D goggles, stealing your credit cards or vitamins. And cops say blankfaced, not our problem, we cant do anything about it. Am I supposed to buy defensive perimeter drones to protect my house now???

People have used jammers against drones.. cheap, battery-powered devices you keep in your pocket that jam the signals that control drones. The FCC bans these jammers in the US, however, because they \\\"unlawfully interfere\\\" with other devices. But there are plenty of people who know how to build them. The new generation of drones becoming available soon, however, will have partial autonomy, being able to continue functioning in a jammed environment and return with data. These semi-autonomous drones are going to be very expensive, though.

Those jammers do zilch! We tried em in the area, it was all over localnet here. Worked for a week, and then hackers used narrowbeam communication and send in a dozen drones working by remote operation and simple AI algorithms. Stole a fortune in platinum catalysts.

I still say mosquito nets are the best defense you have against the little helicopter ones.

WIth video production and fabrication at an all -time technological peek, who knows whether the footage has been tampered with or modified to make things look a certain way. What if we made andy footage shot by these "drones"inadmissible in court. This would take care of the blackmail, and threats by nationalist entities, while maintaining some sense of transparency. Another interesting idea would be to flood a room with magnetism in order to erase the hard drive of these machines. If you target with this energy, any info on the hard drive will be erased.

we had a theft drone unwittingly searching us and the cat smashed it. Sometimes what is old is new again. Of course not everyone has a clever mouser. We never figured out which visitor was using it though we have some suspicions. We don't take travelers anymore.

What I Don't want to see is am arms race - drones being stopped by electronic or design solutions and becoming ever smarter and more efficient every generation to be able to overcome those "solutions". This never worked for spam, virus or hacking protection and it'll never stop the drones. Unfortunately, it seems as if there's no other solution for this problem. Pretty soon we'll worry about picking up microscopic drones and bringing them into our homes with us. Worried what a rat-sized drone might see up your skirt? What about what a germ-sized one could see inside your colon?
